Deaf means aggressive?

Are deaf people aggressive? Watch our video to figure it out. Tomasz Smakowski - sign language interpreter - explains that.

Hi! It’s great to see you again. We are starting the next episode. And what stereotype are we going to debunk today?

Deaf mean aggressive?

Of course it is a myth. Take a look: In official language it’s hard to find PJM.

You notice sign language from TV as precise movements. But privately using sign language by a deaf looks completely different. Magda and Michał were using sign language to the person which they know, so they do this fast, charismatic. Hearing people, which gesticulate strongly, they do not have to be aggressive, although we perceive them this way. We attribute this straight to deaf people as well. As you can see – unnecessarily and wrongly.

From my experience – deaf people are primarily very nice, understanding and respectful of others. I recommend getting along with the deaf probably you won’t meet a more honest person in your life. And in the next material you will see, what stereotypes about the deaf expose you to social blunders. Thank you for today and of course I invite you to ask questions.
